Want to make a difference in your community this October?

Homeward Trust is looking for volunteers to support Edmonton’s 2026 Point-in-Time Count, taking place October 21–22, with community volunteers heading out on Thursday, October 22.

It’s a chance to give a few hours of your time, learn more about homelessness in our city and be part of an important community-wide effort.

What is the Point-in-Time Count?

The Point-in-Time, or PiT, Count, provides a snapshot of homelessness in Edmonton over a 24 hour period.

The information gathered helps build a better understanding of homelessness in our community, identify changes over time and support our collective efforts to prevent and end homelessness.

And making it happen takes people from across our community.

This is where you come in

On October 22, volunteers will head out in teams across Edmonton, walking assigned routes and respectfully connecting with community members who may be experiencing homelessness.

Never volunteered for a PiT Count before? That’s okay.

Homeward Trust provides training, supplies and support, and volunteers work in teams of at least two. You don’t need to be an expert. You just need to be ready to walk, listen, learn and connect with your community.

A few hours can make a difference

We see every day at FIND how individual actions can add up to something much bigger.

A donated couch can help turn an empty space into a home. A thrift store purchase helps support the Furniture Bank. Sharing our work can introduce someone new to the mission.

Giving your time to the PiT Count is another way to get involved in the work happening across Edmonton to prevent and end homelessness.

By volunteering, you’re helping gather important information that contributes to a better understanding of homelessness in our city. You’re also getting an opportunity to learn more about your community and the people who call it home.

Ending homelessness is community work. There are many ways to be part of it, and this is one of them.

Ready to join?

Grab your walking shoes, dress for Edmonton weather and join volunteers from across the city on Thursday, October 22.

Sign up yourself. Bring a friend. Share the opportunity with someone who wants to get more involved in their community.

A few hours of your time can help make this important work possible.

Learn more and sign up to volunteer at homewardtrust.ca/volunteer.

Together, we can end homelessness.
