March Impact: Turning Empty Spaces into Homes

March was a very meaningful month at FIND.

Each week, trucks left our warehouse loaded with donated furniture, and those items became something so much bigger: furnished homes for people moving out of homelessness!

We are so proud to announce that in March, with your support, Find was able to furnish 187 units helping 270 people (198 adults and 72 kids) move out of homelessness and create HOME with donations from the community.

Our team worked alongside housing partners to ensure homes had the essentials needed to start fresh. Dressers, sofas, kitchen tables, tv stands and housewares all moved from community donations into homes across Edmonton. It’s a process that depends entirely on generosity — and our community showed up!

Each home furnished represents a fresh start. A bed to sleep in. A table to gather around. A couch that turns an empty space into a living room. These aren’t just deliveries, they’re a step in someone’s housing journey and the beginning of something beautiful.

We also had the opportunity to celebrate FIND15! in March of this year. For fifteen years, community donations have helped us turn empty spaces into homes. Reaching this milestone gave us the chance to reflect on the impact created alongside our partners, donors and supporters, and the many fresh starts that have been made possible along the way. It’s a celebration of community and a reminder that this work continues to grow because people choose to be part of it.

Through our Donate 150 campaign which ran from February to the end of March, we got to see community support in action. This initiative focused on collecting some of our most-needed items - the pieces that are often the hardest to keep in stock but are essential for creating complete homes. When these items come in, it allows our team to move quickly and build furniture packages without delays.

Donations like dressers, couches, tables, tv stands and chairs play a key role in helping participants settle in right away. Without them, it becomes harder to furnish homes, and participants may be left waiting for items that make a space functional. Donate 150 helped close those gaps by encouraging the community to be part of the solution to ending homelessness throughout the campaign.

By stepping up to donate these specific items, community members helped ensure we could keep up with the needs of our participants, and continue supporting people as they moved into housing. Each donation meant one more home could be furnished with the essentials needed to start fresh.

Behind the scenes, our drivers, warehouse team and staff coordinate pickups, sort donations and build furniture packages tailored to each person. It’s detailed work, but it ensures participants walk into spaces that feel welcoming and complete. A home.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated, shopped, shared our posts, or encouraged others to get involved this month. Because of you, more homes were furnished, more spaces felt lived in, and more people moved forward with stability.
