Earth Day is a special day for us due to the nature of the work that we do. We not only work to help set up folks moving out of homelessness through Housing First with comfortable items from the community that help make their new space a home, but we do so by diverting these items from landfills and garbage cans.
Sustainability is so important to the work that we do and it is really incredible that with some tweaks and a little elbow grease we are able to transform items that may not otherwise have had a second (or third) chance into something beautiful and useful for another person.
This looks like anything from cleaning up an item, fixing a door that was falling off, giving it a new coat of paint or stain, or completely transforming an item into something totally different.
Any way you look at it, there is value in every item.
So here's to you, our amazing supporters, for making a conscious effort to thrift, upcycle, DIY, and donate. Our collective efforts make a huge difference in not only community, but for our planet.
Today is a great day to recommit to our sustainable business model and continue to see value and potential in every day treasures.
