What started as a simple but powerful idea—that access to furniture can help people turn a space into a home while supporting long-term housing stability—has grown into North America’s largest social enterprise of its kind.

For 15 years, FIND has been furnishing hope in our community. As a social enterprise of Homeward Trust, every donation, every purchase, and every shared story helps support people moving from homelessness into housing.

How it started

When Edmonton’s Plan to End Homelessness identified access to affordable furniture as a key barrier for people transitioning out of homelessness, Homeward Trust launched a furniture bank to help remove that barrier.

This work led to the formation of FIND, and in 2011, our first retail store opened as a social enterprise of Homeward Trust. From the beginning, FIND was built on a simple promise: 100% of proceeds stay in our community to support people moving from homelessness into housing.

How it works 

Through community donations and retail sales, FIND provides essential furnishings—free of charge—to individuals and families in Homeward Trust’s housing programs who are transitioning out of homelessness. At the same time, we offer quality, affordable furniture and housewares to the public.

Housing support teams bring program participants to FIND to select their furniture at no cost. This reduces the start-up costs of moving into a new home, allows people to personalize their space, improves quality of life, and supports long-term housing stability and independence.

Today 

FIND has been furnishing hope in Edmonton for 15 years in our current location and now furnishes, on average, 130 homes every month through housing support programs.

When you shop, donate, or share our story, you’re directly supporting people in Homeward Trust’s housing programs and contributing to collective efforts to prevent and end homelessness in Edmonton.

Donate 150: Help Us Collect Our Most Needed Items

To mark our 15th anniversary, we’re launching Donate 150—a community donation drive to collect 150 of our five most needed items.

These items—including couches and loveseats, dressers, TV stands and apartment-sized kitchen tables and chairs—are essential for someone moving into housing. They can make the difference between an empty space and a place that truly feels like home.

From now until March 31, help us collect 150 of these most-needed items. All donors will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a $150 grocery gift card.
