What a busy month June has been for our Housing First furniture bank team. 

Find not only celebrated National Indigenous History Month and Indigenous Peoples Day, as well as a Pride month, but we are also excited to celebrate that we were able to furnish 143 homes for individuals and families moving out of homelessness through the Housing First program with donations from our awesome community supporters in June. 225 people  (152 adults & 73 kids) now have safe, comfortable space to call home. 

Looking back at the past year and everything we have gone through together as a community, it is incredible to see the amount of people who now have access to affordable and safe housing. Homeward Trust is reporting that 2,157 individuals have moved out of homelessness since March 1st 2020. These numbers are absolutely amazing and a true testament to the community we have here in Edmonton. 

We want to take this time to recognize the dedication of the Housing Workers across the 17 Housing First agencies we work with for helping these folks find their new space and for taking the steps to get the everything they need for a fresh start. We appreciate the work you do for our most vulnerable friends and we couldn't do what we do without you! 

 As we go into July, please continue to talk to your friends and family about Find, suggest donating items to Housing First (our greatest needs are dressers, apartment sized dining sets, love seats, light couches and tv stands) and please take care of our most vulnerable neighbors. 

We have seen an incredible community response to the water call out for this heat wave and we ask that you continue to be cognizant of the weather this summer and continue to support in ways that work best for you. Water is life, sunscreen and hats make these temperatures less dangerous and bug spray also helps immensely. Call 211 if you see someone in need of support and call 911 if you see someone in an emergency situation.

Find is humbled by the support we see in Edmonton every day and we appreciate the passion and commitment we see through agencies, our participants and our community to end chronic homelessness together.
