In honor of the National Day for Truth & Reconciliation, Find will be closed today, Monday September 30th.
We take this time to honour the survivors, their families and communities, and ensure that public commemoration of the history and legacy of residential schools remains a vital component of the reconciliation process.
According to Homeward Trust Edmonton, data shows that Indigenous peoples are overrepresented in our homeless community with approximately 58% of the individuals on Edmonton's By Name list identifying as Indigenous. We recognize that generational trauma caused by the residential school system is directly related to this overrepresentation and we will continue to grow our knowledge and understanding to best support this community alongside the Housing First program.
We encourage everyone to wear an orange shirt in support of the Indigenous Community’s call for governments, schools and all communities to come together in the spirit of reconciliation and hope for generations of children to come.
If you are looking for ways to participate today, please check out our partners at Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society for how you can get involved.
We will resume regular hours on Friday October 1st.
